Dear Elicia, Thank you so much for your letter, I really enjoy hearing from my fans and to know people really appreciate my writing. I really enjoy laughing and making people laugh, which is why I choose to write books that are more humorous. I have never enjoyed reading about love stories, and knew I would not enjoy writing about love stories and that is why I chose to write humor books. I am glad to hear that your favorite book is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. What really inspired me to write this book is many years ago when I worked in a local chocolate factory, to entertain myself I would imagine my coworkers in funny outfits and would give them funny names and many years later is when I chose to write about my experience at the chocolate factory. Thank you again for your letter and I hope you read and enjoy the rest of my books as well. Sincerely, Roald Dahl |
End Note 4:
When doing this genre I learned what it would be like to answer fan mail. I started to realize that authors typically get sent a lot of mail and it is nice for them to respond to some and stay connected on a personal level with their fans. The audience for this genre is anyone that is interested in Dahl's life and his books. I chose to include this genre because I thought it would be a good way to show what type of responses Roald gives to his fans. This genre talks about why he enjoys writing humorous books and and I think that shows the authors identity. Heidi. |
